my daughter is 16 and has some spots on her forehead and face which get her down a bit!

she wears foundation to cover them up but sometimes she puts too much on which s probably making the skin worse!

she uses a topical solution now and again which does the job but no sooner she stops using it they come back and besides it dries her skin out!

can you recommend any face washes ,creams ect which will help her get rid once and for all!!

thankyou

xxBest treatment for spots please??
My daughter had the same problem so I took her to see a top specalist in London. He said to leave the creams alone and apart from a very little make up leave the skin alone.

His advice which cost me a small fortune was, Every morning run your tap for a minute or two and then drink a large glass. This is before you do anything else even cleaning your teeth.

In three weeks there was'nt a pimple on her face. Try it, I bet it works.Best treatment for spots please??
I use Nivea Young Cleansing Wash which does the trick usually. Exfoliators sometimes work but can dry out the skin quite a bit.

Clearasil is also very good. It's worth trying a few different ones out but those two brands, in my experience, are the best.
I'm nearly 21 and still have teenage skin! Do you live in the UK? I've tried sooo many brands, even clinique etc, but none of them work as well as Skinology oil control wash from wilkinsons. It's only 99p for a 200ml bottle, but it actually works a LOT better than themore expensive products. It controls oil but doesn't dry your skin out, and it has tea tree oil in it which is brilliant for spots. They also do a tea tree and witch hazel spot stick which is the same price, and that's really good too! Hope that helps! x

Depending on her skin type, I would recommend LUSH products - their face masks or different facial cleansers (mostly look like bars of soap). I have confidently used their face cleanser called 'Coalface' and I noticed a difference in about a week or two, and it's all I use now for my face. The best part is they are affordable and last a long while so they're good value for money. Could be worth it giving it a try. She could also try Simple products, I've heard good things about them.

Maybe you could try suggesting she use less/no foundation as that just makes it worse. She could try using just powder or tinted moisturiser on her face to give the illusion of foundation. She should also wash her face properly as soon as she gets home to get rid of all the foundation - her skin needs to breathe, and that helps get rid of dirt and foundation that could be blocking her pores and causing the spots.

Also she should eat more fruit and veg and drink more water as that's very good for the skin. If she could try to not use an oil based moisturiser on her face, that helps as well. If she's got oily skin, she could use those face wipes - those little sheets that one can use to blot the oil off. That helps incredibly because there's less oil to block her pores.

Hope that helps.
if you goes to a dermetalogist will presscribe you a good medication. But if you feel its a normal one. you can apply Jergens Skin Cream (normal or medicated). My mother has some black spots on her face and applied and it was moved within 2-3 months.
Gas mask.
I get quite alot of spots and was recommended to take 1-2 vening primrose oil capsules every day and it really has worked.
do not use Clearasil! it dries the skin out. recently i have had trouble with dry skin and spots, because i turned to Clearasil when the spot appeared. it dried the spot out yes, but it also took the rest of my skin with it. my beauty therapist suggested i used 'simple' products for the dry skin as it is perfume free and 'which' (think that is how it is spelt) products for the spots. also 'tea tree' do a concealer which is really good it targets on killing the spot as well as covering it up really well.

can be bought from superdrugs for cheap prices.
Personally, I wish I had known about Alpha Hydrox products when I was in high school. It is a line of products with glycolic acid. Glycolic acid products are wonderful at smoothing skin, warding off acne and fading dark spots. My skin looks wonderful since I've been using it. I am now 24 and I really realy wish i had known about this years ago. Try their website. Sample packs are only $1 a piece and they include several products that are AMAZING. You can also find their products at some drugstores or dept. stores like Kmart, CVS pharmacy and Rite Aid among others. The best thing is tey are pretty inexpensive and pack a punch. Either way, definitely have her use a product that contains GLYCOLIC ACID. It is a miracle worker. Ebay has some good prices on glycolic products too.
I've heard really good things about Proactive, although I've never used it myself.

A quick at-home remedy is to put a dab of WHITE toothpaste (not gel, nothing with breath strips or fancy-schmancy stuff like that) on a pimple and it will shrink within a few hours.
Spots are due to yeast and staph infections. Genetics and hormones play a key role. Topical solutions usually either dry out the skin (which in turn irritates the skin and makes it more prone to spots) or kill bacteria and/or yeast. The problem with topical solutions is that the spots return when the creams are discontinued (and sometimes the spots come back worse because the normal balance of the skin has been disrupted).

After decades of experience, I've learned that an internal solution is key. Drink more water. It will encourage the body to expell toxins through urine instead of the skin. Stay away from sugar, white bread and milk. Those increase inflammation of the bowel, which in turn leads to inflammation on the skin. A healthy bowel is key to healthy skin. Get her to take high quality probiotics (only those that are refrigerated in the health store), to eat more garlic (if she does not like garlic, she can take supplements) and to take fish oil supplements.

For topical, only wash face with a very mild cleanser (no soap).

Wish I had known this at 16. Much luck to your daughter.
